When I first started camping it was frustrating to explain what I needed when it came to repair or replacement of my RV hardware because here were so many things that fall into the category of RV Hardware. So I am going to try and help the new camper (like me a few years ago) to understand some of the different terminologies. I am not going to go into all of them in this particular article, but focus mostly on the interior hardware. In this explanation I will discuss RV hardware normally found in the hardware section in most RV catalogs beginning with RV Cabinet Hardware.

Cabinet Hardware – RV cabinet hardware would be cabinet latches, positive latches, push latches, and bunk latches.

RV Cabinet Latches – Latches usually requires touching, pulling, or pushing, but usually has one moving part.

RV Cabinet Catches – Again these require pushing or pulling but will have more moving parts. There are also many more catches than latches. Most of them are commonly known as barrel catches, roller catches, magnetic catches, bulldog catches, and concealed roller catches. These are primarily to keep the cabinet door closed while in travel.

RV Cabinet Hinges – These are pretty self-explanatory, however, there different types of hinges. In addition to finishes such as brass hinges, antique finished hinges, stainless steel, and/or brushed nickel, there are hinges that are free swinging, self-closing and self supporting.

RV Cabinet Door Struts – Cabinet door struts are mostly spring-loaded arms that keep the cabinet door raised when you open it, so that you don’t have to hold the door up as you are trying to remove or place articles in the cabinet. These struts are most commonly found on doors that raise horizontally. They’re very popular because they are user-friendly, at least most of the time.

Cabinet Drawer Hardware – Cabinet door hardware is pretty much limited to drawer slides sockets, drawer bumpers, drawer slide kits. The slides in sockets are available in plastic and metal. It’s important to remember that if you are purchasing parts for cabinet drawers you will usually need to know if it is for the left or the right side.

RV Window Hardware is the next segment and covers quite a few part numbers and part types due to the variety and quantity of window cranks with differing sizes and shapes. There are a number of RV manufacturers that supply window covering hardware, but for the most part window covering hardware can be purchased through your local RV dealership or from an online RV Parts Dealer store. The parts I am referring to are snaps, hooks, blind quieters, curtain tracks, snap tape, curtain hold-down’s, and curtains themselves.

RV Bed/ Door Gas Props – Gas props are used mainly for doors, bed lifts and compartment doors. Gas props when replaced need to be replaced with the correct one. This is important because they need to match the length, pounds that they will hold, and the height that they will extend to. Using the wrong prop can cause damage and injury to both the RV and yourself. Make sure if you need help in this area to ask for it. Often times if you’re replacing a gas prop you will need to replace the brackets as well. When securing them to the surface and you use the same holes, make sure not to strip it out even though you want it to be held tightly in place.

RV Compartment Door Hardware – This type of hardware can be frustrating. RV baggage door catches and latches can be found in different shapes and sizes. While the reality is there are only a few types, there are many styles. RV baggage door catches can have either squared or rounded ends and come in white, kind of white (called colonial white), beige, black, and chrome colors as well as stainless steel. The circumference of most RV compartment doors or RV baggage doors, which ever you decide to call them, is almost always the same but the length usually comes in four sizes. They also have two different ways to secure the baggage doors, keyed meaning you can lock them, or thumb blocks, which secures the door, but does not lock them.

RV Entry Door Hardware – Entry door hardware consists of grab handles, and entry door holders. Grab handles are mounted on the side of the door and helps one enter the RV more safely. Door holders are used to hold the door open securely. RV door holders come in different lengths, angles, colors, and styles. When replacing a RV door holder, it is easy to take off and put on, and also easy to identify what you have.

I think this is enough information for this article. I will cover some other RV hardware in future articles. They will be talking about awning hardware, window awning hardware, RV door locks, and other related RV hardware.

First came the slide out, dramatically increasing inside living space of the modern RV. It did not take long for RV awning manufacturers such as Dometic’s A&E and Carefree of Colorado to recognize and seize upon an opportunity and the slide out cover was born.

Attaching to the outside of the slide room and on an awning rail mounted on the RV just above the slide room while utilizing a awning roller tube always under tension the slide topper awning automatically rolls up as the slide room is retracted. The sales pitch for slide topper covers are many and I would like to cover these from my perspective, that of an RV technician.

Slide covers provide an obvious benefit of keeping all sorts of debris such as tree limbs, twigs, and leaves off the slide roof because most of us do not crawl up on our roofs to inspect our slides every time we are ready to move our RV. The upper slide seal is particularly vulnerable to foreign debris so its paramount the top of the slide is clean as it is retracted. It is difficult enough to keep outdoor elements out of your RV in the slide areas so these areas need to be protected as best as possible.

Another benefit is keeping direct sunlight off the top of the slide. Some RV manufacturers utilize a “tape seal” on the outside seam of the roof that will dry and crack with repeated exposure to direct sunlight. In addition, anytime you can provide an atmosphere of shade to anything you have just prolonged the life of the object, slides included.

Slide covers provide real benefits and certainly are worth the investment. I am amused however by some of the other sales pitches, which I think, should be taken with a grain of salt.

A sales pitch easily sold is the one where they profess slide toppers help keep water off the slide and helps prevent leaks around the slide room. Perhaps… if you have rain falling neatly at a perfect 90 degree angle to the ground, but I am still waiting to observe such a phenomenon. After most rains there will be water on the slide roof and after a rainstorm you can bet on it. In the case of snow, I would rather see snow on the awning rather than the room.

Here is a good one! Slide covers keep your slide room cool and comfortable. Maybe…but I doubt it. I could be wrong but I do not see the slide cover making an appreciable difference in inside temperatures.

In conclusion, slide covers are certainly worth the investment, which is why you see them on most RV’s today. On lower end units manufacturers will tend to leave them off primarily to make the RV that much more affordable but sooner or later many consumers will have them installed. Naturally, with slide covers you have one more item to be maintained so I must address the issue of durability of the awning material. There are many different grades and types of material used but acrylic and vinyl are the most prevalent.

Truthfully, awning covers take a beating from both the sun and the wind and the complaints are numerous concerning OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) material. Be aware that heavier fabric and tighter webbing is better when replacing awning material.

RVs are a personal thing. Some people like the versatility of a lightweight trailer while others wouldn’t be caught dead in anything less than a forty-five foot bus conversion. In any case, there are a few features and characteristics that are nice to have in any RV. Some are usually only feasible in larger motorhomes or fifth wheels while others are viable in any RV. Keep these in mind when you’re purchasing an RV or planning your next remodeling project.

1) Easy to Maintain Floors

Regardless of the type of flooring you prefer – the key is maintainability. If the floors in your RV are hard to keep clean and difficult to maintain, you’ve got the wrong flooring. For ease of maintenance, look into vinyl tile, linoleum, or plastic-laminate wood. For a good compromise, consider carpeting in the living room area and tile (or linoleum) in the kitchen and bathroom areas. In heavy traffic areas, use a carpet or vinyl runner for extra protection.

2) A Re-Configurable Dining Area

Removing a fixed dinette and replacing it with a free-standing set of table and chairs is one of the most commonly performed remodeling projects. Unfortunately, some manufacturers make this task a great deal harder than it should be. Nevertheless, it’s still worth the effort for those that want the flexibility and the breathing room that this particular arrangement offers.

3) An Island Style Bed

An ‘island style bed’ is not an exotic bed that’s designed by indigenous islanders for ritualistic purposes. Instead, it’s merely a bed that can be accessed from three sides. Beds that have two sides against a wall can be a real challenge when changing the sheets. Furthermore, when two people are sleeping in the bed, the person against the wall not only has less breathing room – they also have to find some way to get up without climbing over their partner.

4) A Flip-up Kitchen Counter Extension

RV kitchen are frequently short on useful workspace. A large flip-up countertop extension can provide badly needed surface area whenever you need it. You can make your own using plywood and hardware from your RV dealer. Alternatively, IKEA (www.IKEA-usa.com) sells a wood drop leaf table (called the NORBO) that can easily be adapted to serve as a countertop extension. It cost around $30 (plus shipping).

5) An Adjustable Television Set

Most RVs come with televisions that are mounted inside a cabinet. As a result, people have to twist their bodies, turn sideways, or move their chairs to get a good view (assuming their chair even moves). It makes a lot more sense to have a television that can be configured for the viewer. A good alternative is a flat-screen television attached to a flexible TV mount that can be extended, rotated, and tilted in all directions. You can find them in good appliance stores or on the Internet.

6) Flexible Wardrobes

When it comes to closets and wardrobes, most RV manufacturers throw in a closet, install a closet rod, and call it good. That works great if everything you own can be hung on a coat hanger. However, with some adjustable shelving and a few bins, wardrobes and closets can be easily configured to meet the storage needs of everything and everyone.

7) A Dedicated Workspace

Most RV manufacturers haven’t yet addressed the fact that RVers need a dedicated place to work. A few RVs have token desks but they frequently don’t offer enough surface area for serious use. Moreover, many of these desks are located in the bedroom rendering them useless for those that work after hours. Genuine work areas should have enough surface area for a laptop computer as well as a printer. They should also have enough space for a real office chair with wheels.

 Separate Vanity and Toilet

When a bathroom vanity is in the same room as the toilet, both fixtures are tied up when either one is being used. When they’re separate, one person can brush their teeth while the other uses the toilet. This may sound trivial but in a one-bathroom ‘house’, issues like this can make a big difference.

9) Well-designed Food Pantries

The best RV kitchens have pull-out food pantries that are specifically designed for canned goods, spices, and other commonly stored items. Look for adjustable, display-style shelves that are removable for easy cleaning.

10) An Accessible Bathroom

Some RVs have ‘private’ bathrooms that are located in the rear of the bedroom. The concept is similar to the master bedroom that is often found in houses. However, in a real house, there is usually more than one bathroom. In an RV, this design means that everyone has to parade through your bedroom to use the toilet. Not always a good idea.

11) Real Doors

Privacy is no less important simply because you’re staying in an RV. Accordingly, bathroom and bedroom doors should be solid and capable of being locked. Likewise, in toy haulers, there should be a solid door separating the living quarters from the ‘garage’ to keep fumes out of the living quarters.

12) Lots of Windows

RVs are largely about experiencing the great outdoors. Windows help to bring the outside in. They also make an RV seem brighter, bigger, and more cheerful. Many RVers routinely install extra windows in their RV. Ask your dealer for a list of companies that sell RV windows.

Authors Jack and Julee Meltzer have traveled more than 150,000 miles with dogs across the United States. They presently live fulltime in a Class A motorhome with two large dogs and three cats. They have written three books for the RV Market including: “Camping and RVing with Dogs”, “The RV Makeover Bible”, and “The Smart RVers Guide to Saving Money”. They are experienced writers and photojournalists working on an upcoming book on RV Accessories.

RVing is a way that many of us choose to aid in keeping our sanity. When it comes time for that vacation that you’ve been dreaming of, the RV often comes to mind. Everyone from mobile to disabled deserves that R & R time.

There is nothing quite like finding that far off place on the map. These are the experiences that last a lifetime. Many that seek these types of experiences are disabled travelers. They can be as adventurous as anyone, and sometimes more so than the rest of us. The adventurous disabled crowd is finding out that recapturing their mobility can be done in a special needs RV.

Special needs RVs and also van conversions are being made by fifteen manufacturers Nation wide. The possibilities are endless for the travel seeking disabled individual, with a properly outfitted special needs RV. Disabilities and health concerns become unconcerning; with wheel chair ramps, roll-under sinks, longer faucet handles, lower kitchen counters and cabinets, easy access controls, wider entrances and roll-in showers, the design of the special needs RV will surely accommodate. Customizing a special needs RV is all that a disabled traveler needs to do.

Weather the traveler is severely disabled; or has minor disabilities; they can find the options and special amenities that they need to meet their unique travel needs. Everyone should have a memorable and enjoyable trip. Traveling by RV should be an opportunity that we can all choose, comments Clint Ethington, manager of Pedata RV in Tucson Arizona. “There are fantastic benefits to RV travel including medical support and health classes offered by various campgrounds.” Everyone seems to be helping to make RV travel more accessible for the disabled. The RV lifestyle welcomes newcomers, including disabled travelers.

These days, if you have made the decision to travel by RV, you may do so. With the help of RV manufacturers, this is being made possible. Manufacturers work to improve the amenities that are available in the special needs RV’s and van conversions. They work to make RVing an option to everyone that chooses it, special needs or not. Traveling the country is traveling the country. You may choose to fly to your destination, you might want to take a train, or go by bus. Most choose to travel by RV. Now, just about everyone has this option thanks to those fifteen manufacturers offering special needs RV’s and van conversions. They have made it possible for all of us.

How about these right… I think you’ll find the following nuggets of wisdom particularly insightful. Leave your comments below. Check out the second one in particular…

Canadian RV Replacement Window Manufacturers: RV Window Repair or …

Broken or leaking RV windows need to be replaced before moisture causes structural or cosmetic damage. RV dealers may source units or parts from one of these companies.

RV owners are very patient

Of course RV manufacturers don't sell as many units as Ford but the lists of defects boggled the mind. I asked myself, "Do RV owners expect this sort of thing? Is it simply that they don't care? Do they think that this is always how it …

In most cases, there is little difference between the bodies in a new RV repo to a recreational vehicle. Quality. Some manufacturers make vehicles better quality than others. campers used are the same. Some are not only in better …

Have a great day!

Traditional motorhomes are still popular. RVs, diesel pushers and travel trailers are being used by millions of people across the country. But there’s a new RV in town called the Park Model that is becoming a big seller. As summer approaches, campgrounds are stocking up with Park Models to make their campgrounds feel more like home to a new breed of traveler.

Based on their appearance, one may think our 16th President may live in a Park Model RV as it is they very much resemble a log cabin. These delightful, cabin-like RV’s measure up very well to traditional RVs in size and include many of the same amenities including a kitchen, bedroom and sitting area. The Park Model option allow individuals not wishing to camp in a tent but sans an RV to enjoy the appeal of a community campground.

Because campgrounds wanting to attract a wider range of campers are introducing house-like RVs to their camping areas, the demand for Park Models has increased considerably but many RV manufacturers are answering the call. Manufacturers like Damon Corp, Cavco, CrossRoads RV and Forest River have all increased production on Park Model RV’s. Campers wishing to experience a Park Model RV can find them at many camping areas including KOA and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.

The Barn Yard, an Amish influenced company out of Pennsylvania proudly handcrafts 6 different versions of Park Model RV’s. The 6 versions include log, vinyl, lap siding and more. Depending on the model, these RV’s range from $20,000 to $60,000.

Once delivered and attached to water and electricity, the Park Model is fully operational. And with the advancement of “Green” technology many campgrounds, like the Sacred Rocks Reserve and RV Park are going solar with their models. Reported energy savings range from 25-75%!

Other manufacturers try to fill more than one niche and offer the ability to pass on savings and high quality products to folks on both sides of the market. Forest River is one such company and continues to build a high volume of park models as well as more traditional motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. Although park models are becoming more popular, consumers on the go may want to stick with a true recreational vehicle. Fully contained, RVs offer all the amenities with the advantage of being easily transportable – taking the family to new and exciting destinations and exploring the countryside while keeping all the comforts of home. The new stationary models or RVs are great but don’t offer the freedom and flexibility of a standard RV.

With a very real concern for the environment as well as an interest in attracting a younger traveling crowd, RV manufacturers are making their RV’s more affordable as well as more “Green.” These Green features include lightweight towables, solar powered charging systems and overall increased fuel efficiency.

These days many of the parks and campgrounds that have been around for decades are choosing to modernize their amenities and options. Across the country, it is not uncommon to find campgrounds with fitness centers, swimming pools, hot tubs, dog walks, bocce ball, horseshoe pits, catch and release fishing and more! Plus many feature restaurants, service departments, reception halls, courtyards for parties and more!

Looking to save BIG on a BIG selection of new and pre-owned RVs? Beaudry RV has just what you need! Check out Beaudry’s HUGE selection of motor homes, trailers, 5th wheels and RVs today!

Have a great day!

Each year, around this time, the RV show season starts. RV shows, like boat shows, are intended to introduce the new model year RV’s and to help disseminate RV related information to the consumer. These shows are usually scheduled during the slower time of the year, the winter months, to help jump start the selling season. RV dealers from miles away will bring their wares to these shows. For the buyer, RV shows put everything you need to see and learn about RV’s under one roof, making it the ideal forum to conduct research and make informed RV buying decisions.

I mentioned that RV dealers will come from miles around. This includes many local dealers from the area in which you live. If at all possible you want to find a dealer that is within a reasonable distance from where you live. As bad as it sounds, if you buy from an out of state dealer or one far from home, the local RV dealer may not give you the best service after the sale. The most important concern here is that you deal with a reputable RV dealer.

A good place to start your search for a reputable RV dealer is at a local RV show. When you attend an RV show don’t be afraid to ask questions about the RV dealership and the products they offer. For starters you need to find a reputable RV dealer with a reputable, professional staff. A reputable dealer wants your business and they want you to return to them for future business. I have been in many RV dealerships that I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with and I have been in others that I couldn’t leave soon enough. Remember, you’re at the show to check out the dealer as well as the product and you should plan to visit the RV dealer’s physical location before you buy. If at all possible talk to some other people who have dealt with the dealership in the past. Don’t be afraid to ask them to give you a tour of the dealership. Look at the service department. Do they have certified technicians? Do they have the capability and facilities to do routine maintenance and warranty work on the units they sell? Look at the Parts and Accessory department. Do they offer a good selection of parts and accessories? Do they have a good selection of RVs to choose from? How long have they been selling certain manufacturer brands? How long have they been in business?

There are some great deals offered at some RV shows and with all of the excitement, and a good salesperson, it’s easy to make a hasty purchase. If they can offer a great deal at the show, chances are they can offer a great deal after the show, unless the offer included a manufacturer discount or rebate for show dates only. Let them know you might be interested in a particular unit or deal, but you want to visit the dealership before you buy.

There is a lot of ground to cover at an RV show and a wealth of information available. Not only will you find a good selection of RV dealers to check out, but there will be every make and model of RV imaginable too. RV shows are a great place to do some comparison shopping. Keep in mind that RV’s are available in entry, mid-line, and high-end models. When comparing prices, make sure it is apples to apples. One RV may look like another one, but you need to compare the options, construction, equipment and features they both have to offer. See who offers the best deal but remember if the dealer goes out of business next month, or isn’t equipped to work on the RV, your best deal may turn out to be a bad deal.

RV shows aren’t just for RV dealers to showcase their products. RV shows are a great source for information, from knowledgeable representatives, on every aspect of the RV industry. You will find information on campgrounds and RV resorts, aftermarket RV products, RV accessories and free RV seminars. Some of these seminars might be helpful to you in making some of your buying decisions. Check with the show office on seminar topics and times.

RV shows are also a good place to talk to RV manufacturer representatives and other industry experts. Many of the RV manufacturers send knowledgeable representatives to assist RV dealers with their products. Don’t be afraid to talk with other RVers at the show too. Many of these people have years of RV experience and knowledge of different products.

Buying an RV is a major decision. To make the best buying decision possible you need to do your research and be well informed. I would like to offer you ten tips to making an informed RV buying decision.

1) If you’re not absolutely sure an RV is right for you try renting one before you buy.

Rule number one for owning an RV is you have to use it. It can be difficult to determine if an RV is right for you if you have never used one. Plan a weekend or week-long trip and rent an RV to try it out. Renting an RV can be a good indicator to gauge if an RV is in your future. But I caution you, once you get the RV bug it’s hard to get rid of.

2) Know which type of RV is right for you and your family before you buy.

RV’s come in numerous types, sizes and price ranges. Know which type is right for you and what price fits your budget. Take the time to research your specific needs, and how you plan to use the RV. If you plan to travel cross-country in the RV a motorized RV might make more sense than a towable RV. If you plan to go camping in the backwoods, off the beaten trail, a pop up or truck camper would probably make more sense.

3) New or Used?

This is a major consideration before you purchase an RV. To assist you with making this decision consider how you plan to use the RV and what your budget is. If you only plan to take a couple of weekend trips, or use it for one week out of the year, a used RV might be best for you. And, it won’t do you any good to own an RV if there isn’t enough money left in the budget to enjoy it.

4) If you buy a towable RV make sure you have a tow vehicle that can safely tow it.

You might find your dream RV only to discover your tow vehicle can’t tow it. If you already own the vehicle you plan to tow with determine how much it can safely tow and shop for an RV based on that information. If you plan to buy a tow vehicle select the travel trailer or fifth wheel trailer first, then buy a vehicle that can safely tow it. RV dealerships should have trained personnel to assist you with matching the tow vehicle and trailer.

5) If you plan to purchase a motorized RV drive it before you buy it

Driving a motorhome for the first time can be a little intimidating, but it’s important that you test drive it before you buy it. You want a motorhome that you feel comfortable driving because you will spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Check out all of the controls, the view, mirrors and make sure it performs the way you expect it to.

6) Do your research

Buying an RV is a major investment, similar to an automobile or your home. You need to do your research before you buy. There are lots of RV manufacturers and RV brands to choose from. You want an RV dealer and a manufacturer that will stand behind the product after the sale. You can research manufacturers on the internet, request brochures, take factory tours and attend local RV shows to learn more about all of the options you have.

7) Buy from a reputable RV dealership

A reputable RV dealership will have a professional sales, parts and service staff. This is an important consideration during and after the purchase of your RV. It’s important that you select the right type of RV, floorplan and brand for you and your family, and that there are qualified technicians to service the unit after the sale. A reputable RV dealership can make your RV ownership experiences much more pleasurable.

 Protecting your investment

When you purchase your RV consider some other factors that will help protect your investment. I recommend looking into some type of extended service contract that goes beyond the manufacturer warranty period. There are numerous plans available, so shop around for the best deal. Get specialized RV insurance coverage. It’s different from your home and auto policy. When you need specialized coverage you’ll be glad you have it.

9) Now that you own it, where can you use it?

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, RVIA states that there are approximately 8,500 RV parks and campgrounds located near national parks and forests, popular tourist attractions, along interstates and in cities and small towns. With the Internet you have instant access to most of these public and private campgrounds, RV Parks and RV Resorts. Other good resources are travel guides, magazines, campground directories and state tourism boards to help plan your next RV trip.

10) Back to rule number 1

I mentioned earlier if you own an RV you need to use it, otherwise it’s just a large lawn ornament. So, pack up the RV, the kids and the pets and head out to explore this wonderful country we live in and build some lasting memories with family and friends.

So what are you waiting for? Find out when the next RV show will be in your area and make it a point to attend it. Oh, and don’t forget to wear some comfortable walking shoes!

Find an RV show near you:

About 40 years ago the little camper was born.

Someone at Toyota USA decided that it would be a good idea to provide pickups for use by camper manufacturers. These vehicles were sent out to the camper companies as a cab and chassis unit. They did not have a pickup bed attached. The manufacturer of the camper attached their own camper body onto the chassis of the pickup. This became the basis for the series of campers known as the Toyota motor home.

Constructed in the late 1970s, they were tiny by today’s measure.

At first the campers were small, not much bigger than the original pickup body. One of the most common brands of camper of this type at that time was called the Toyota Chinook. This little camper consisted of a fiberglass body attached to the Toyota chassis. It normally had a pop-up roof with a vinyl enclosure.

Inside the camper, the accommodations were quite plain.

Along one side of the body there was a built in galley consisting of a sink and icebox, and a two burner propane cook stove. The other side of the camper was placed a couch which folded out into a double bed. This left a small aisle for standing, dressing, and other activities. Normally the inside of the camper was designed with the cabinets made from the same material as the body of the camper, fiber glass.

These small campers to be in popular with people wanting to travel inexpensively.

The little pickup combined with a camper body made a very economical unit for weekending and vacation travel. This model of RV was very popular with fishermen and hunters or couples who wanted a simple camper that they could park in garage. The use of the pop-up top built into the camper these vehicles would allow the vehicle to fit in a stall in a standard garage.

With the pop-up roof extended, there was limited stand up room inside the camper. This allowed the user to move around without bending over. The daily activities of cooking, getting dressed, and sleeping were all carried out in the warmth and protection of the solid fiber glass body. The limited features of these campers may extended stays a real challenge, but for weekends and brief vacations they were ideal.

One of the major difficulties of this camper was the lack of a bathroom.

For some people this was not a problem as they used the camper as a very comfortable place to sleep while camping in the outdoors. When used at forest service campgrounds or in wilderness areas this was ideal, but for use in crowded campgrounds or RV parks this soon became a problem. Another drawback of this camper was the lack of built-in storage.

While this little camper was ideal for a lot of people it was not quite the best camper for the growing RV market.

Buyers wanted more amenities and features that provided the comfort and convenience of home while on the road. Attracted by the sales of the Toyota Chinook type of camper, RV manufacturers began to design larger and more comfortable Toyota motor homes.

Having lived and traveled in a Toyota Motor Home, I have fond memories of this type of RV. Discover more about the little RV at http://www.thorntonnetsales.com/toyotamotorhome.

Marble In Uk Widening Its Territory

Marble identifies elegancy and royalty. From several centuries Marble in UK, in the form of different sculptures and building structures exhibiting beauty and luxury. This stone was the primary choice of every architect in early times to create master pieces for aristocrats. There are several evidences to prove this. We can not ignore the great architecture Taj Mahal in India, which is still a heart throbbing for beauty lovers. Italians were also prominent users of Marble other than Indians and Mughals.

Similarly, we can find the mark of this most picked stone in UK in the form of sculptures, buildings, and several other forms. They have succeeded to strengthen their hold in the world of architecture so far. In fact, enthusiastic and creative youths are filled of energy by these Marble structures. Now, it is turn of Marble tiles in UK to create impact in a similar way.

Although, Marble’s exuberant impression is obviously one of the major reasons why they are the prime choice of home owners, but there are many other causes. Marble in UK which was once known for creating beautiful sculptures is now widening its territory to other fields like tiles. With wide range of patterns and designs it is stealing hearts of home owners.

Whenever it comes to Marble we frame an idea of white stone with veins of dark colours on its surface. Many of us only know Marble as white stone only. But, the fact is far from this. You can find this stone in many colours. Colourful Marble are rare and hence, costly, but finding them in UK market is not tough. This stone as a tile proves to be quite viable. Being durable and strong it delivers long term service. You can expect its services for many generations.

Its applications are not just limited to any particu
lar horizon. It can be used to decorate your home interior in the form of art pieces, cover floor & wall, centre table, side table and countertops. There are various other means to utilise its qualities. Today, with increasing competition among the tile manufacturers Marble is completely successful in reinforcing its position.

Marble in UK can be found easily. You can either go for online mode or traditional mode of shopping. However, online mode offers mode opportunities to grab better deals. You can get discounted price, free gifts and assurance of quality as well. So, you have every reason to buy Marble through online shops. Yet, it is all up to your choice which one is more comfortable to you.

Be It Ever So Humble, There’s No Place Like A Motor Home Rv

When going on an extended road trip, there are usually two options. First is to take whatever vehicle you have handy and drive, hoping to find a motel or someplace where you can stay if it gets too late out on the open road. The other option is to rent a motor home RV and do away with the worrying of where you’ll be sleeping at night during your trip. A motor home RV, or recreational vehicle, may not have all the comforts and nuances that you have in an actual house but when you’re out there, these vehicles offer a level of luxury that comes as close as you can get.

A motor home RV generally comes in two varieties: the trailer that you can haul behind your main vehicle, or the house-on-wheels variety. The first variety is best suited for extended family vacations driving the open highway, particularly if the family in question is going to be driving up and down backroads. The second variety is also as useful in similar situations but many hold the opinion that it would be better suited for short-term excursions, such as camping or fishing trips. Of course, if you are looking for other options, there are other varieties to the RV, but the two previously mentioned are the most prominently used.

While the features that all the various motor home rv models have tend to differ between the variety and the manufacturer, a few features are constant. Chief among these is the simplicity of the concept. Regardless of what features or additions are made, an rv is, first and foremost, a mobile living space for whoever owns it. While comfort can become a secondary issue when it comes to a number of units, the rv units in the world today still fulfill the original design intent. Some of the standard implements include beds for at least two people, a fully functional bathroom with sink, and for the larger ones, a partia
1000
lly functional kitchen area. With features like that, worrying about where to get your next meal or where to stay the night is no longer a concern.

In addition, while it may not sound very savory to the socialite in all of us, a motor home rv can be used as a far cheaper alternative to an actual house. The way things are, owning one’s own house is one of the most expensive things in the world. In contrast, the costs of a motor home are much cheaper, despite giving up several other conveniences. The main problem would be the fact that there are certain luxuries that are harder to access in a mobile home.

Fortunately, modern rv units are capable of emulating a large number of modern conveniences and luxuries present in modern motor home rv units, so there isn’t that much of a difference. Additionally, motor home rv manufacturers are constantly upgrading and updating their technologies, so modern units can now access cable TV and WiFi, as well as a host of other modern, technological conveniences. Besides, the bank can’t repossess your home if you can drive it away.

If the past is any indication about what happens during a major recession one of the first things to go among consumers is discretionary spending. The Saturday night restaurant ritual, the new RV or boat, the vacation home or the 7-day cruise all get placed on the back burner. This is extremely apparent in the RV Industry right now. RV manufacturers are going out of business, RV dealers are closing their doors, and as the news media continues to point out one of the highest unemployment rates for a county is Elkhart County in northern Indiana, the hub of RV manufacturing.

The housing industry meltdown, subprime lending, collapse of the auto industry and corporate greed all contributed to the current state of our economy resulting in lower consumer confidence and spending.

So where does that leave the future of the RV industry? This industry has endured many hardships in the past; recessions, high interest rates for consumer lending and dealer floor plan payments, the high cost of fuel and it has always came back stronger than it was before. To come back stronger than it was before this time will require innovation, change and forward thinking on the part of its leaders in all sectors of the industry.

Here are my top 5 predictions for the future of the RV industry:

5) The weak will not survive. Whether it is a manufacturer, dealer, campground or aftermarket supplier only the strong who are committed, determined and willing to change with the times will survive this current downturn. It will require downsizing operations, inventory, and making good solid business decisions. Back to the basics! In the long run this will make the remaining companies better, stronger and more adaptable to change.

4) RV manufacturers will need to improve on the quality of RV’s. As a society Americans are more and more demanding that the products they purchase are of the highest quality. This is especially true of major purchases. Modern technology focuses on better quality products, from cell phones and computers to automobiles and RV’s. Some RV manufacturers, not all, need to address the issue of higher quality in its product offering to remain competitive in the future RV market. The current economic crisis will help weed some of the poor quality products out. This would bring a question to mind, if it ever happened should we as consumers allow, or should I say accept, RV’s made in China into the US marketplace?

3) Along with better quality built in the product comes better warranty and better customer service. I have experienced RV manufacturers with outstanding warranty programs and others who barely stand behind the product it builds. The same holds true with customer service, but a large part of customer service is dependent upon the RV dealer selling the manufacturers product. The days of only servicing a customer’s unit if they bought it from me mentality are over. If RV dealers want to stay in the future RV marketplace they better show it in how they treat and service the customers who walk through the door. Think about it, if you had a bad customer service experience in the past do you return to that company to do business in the future?

2) Borrowing money as we know it will probably never be the same again, and that is a good thing. Banks that loan money need to be more responsible. I won’t get into my take on us, the taxpayers, bailing some of these institutions and people out. Loaning more than a property is worth, loaning to consumers you know cannot afford to repay the loan, overextending borrowers and allowing consumers to be so upside down in an auto or RV loan are all poor business practices. You can see where it got us now. A reputable RV dealer builds its business on repeat business. You sell a customer their first RV, say a pop up, treat them fairly, provide good customer service and they will return to that dealership when it is time to upgrade. The average RVer will own four or more RV’s in their lifetime. A dealership cannot stay in business or remain competitive if the consumer finances way more than the RV is worth and cannot sell or trade it in the future. Criteria for lending money has already tightened and will stay that way in the foreseeable future. RV dealers who want to get their fair share of the market will need to be more responsible when it comes to making sure consumers will in fact be future repeat customers.

1) Whether you like it or not everything is going green. I don’t know how anybody cannot realize this, but RV manufacturers especially need to take heed. I grew up during an era of muscle cars; where horse power and speed were the only things that were important. I still have that old school point of view, but when it comes to the RV industry of the future, bigger is not going to be better. RV manufacturers need to downsize! Smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic travel trailers and 5th wheels will be in demand. Not only for better fuel efficiency but quite possibly because there won’t be any vehicles manufactured that are capable of towing heavier models in the future. Motorized RV’s will be smaller in size with more fuel efficient power plants capable of burning alternative fuels or running off renewable energy. The focus will shift from models with 5 slide outs to streamlined models capable of 15 mpg or more. My question to you is, after owning a larger RV with a slide out or multiple slides, whether a trailer or a motorhome, could you see yourself downsizing RV’s in the future?

The 2008 National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky. rolled out some promising RV products for the future. This lets you know that there are innovative forward thinkers in this industry, poised to come back strong when the economy rebounds. The RV industry may be down but never count it out. As difficult as the current conditions are it is quite possible that that will be a main factor in this industry being stronger in the future.

So it is my thought that with strong companies, improved quality, better customer service, reputable lending and downsized RV’s the future outlook for the RV industry will be successful and strong.

Happy Camping,
